ABOUT ME
I am an award-winning International Latin Dance Champion in Asia and competed professionally in American Smooth and Rhythm in the US. In 2008, I qualified for the World Salsa Championships.
I began dancing at an early age studying ballet, modern dance, and Korean traditional dance. In college I majored in dance and earned a Bachelor’s degree. It was during my college years that I expanded my interest into other dances and began Ballroom Dancing.
While still in college I started to competing in Ballroom Dance in Asia and became a Rising Star Champion. This led to my dance partner and me studying Ballroom dance in London under various worldwide champions.
In 2005 I brought my dancing skills to America and started competing professionally a few years later in American Smooth and Rhythm. My interest expanded to other dances such as Salsa which led me to competitions in that genre.
I completed my Masters studies and earned a degree in 2009 by completing a thesis on The Evolution of Ballroom Dance in the US. This led me to teaching positions at Bay Area colleges including City College of San Francisco and Laney college.
I was hired by UC Berkeley in 2018 and shortly thereafter became a full-time lecturer teaching a variety of dance classes.
